My Fairytale- Prince Charming

Once upon a time there was a beautiful princess. The king and the queen loved her dearly and taught her to follow her heart in matters that are personal. Her childhood was not so much fun as there weren’t many like her. She spent most of her time day dreaming tales about love and honour. She loved those times. People were good, kind and helpful. The kingdom was happy and prosperous.
But by the time she grew up, times had changed. Her friends were no longer her friends, people in the kingdom grew envious and jealous of each other. There was no love left anymore. The kingdom got taken over by greed and sadness. The king and the queen got worried about how Anna will cope with the changing tides of time, alone. They started looking for a suitable groom to get the princess married so there would be someone to take care of her.
The princess however had a different plan. She had seen the world outside her kingdom and it seemed rich with colours and happiness and glory. And she wanted now was to get out into this new world and follow her dream. Dream that she had dreamt of since she was a child. However in doing so she did not want to hamper the king’s honour. She decided that the only way the king and the queen will let her do that was if she was to find another dream. Something that was more “real”, like learning a new skill. So she found one. She decided she wanted to become an advertiser. And a good one. She fought for three long years to convince the King that that was something she believes she wants to do. Finally she was sent to the Kingdom of Learning. The best there was. Two years and she worked her ass off and learned as much as she could. And yes, there was a lot to learn. First up was the language. Anna was not abreast with the foreign language, she had to learn it. Her hold on the language was purely bookish what she had read and learnt in school. She couldn’t think on her feet if she was to answer someone. So she spoke to as many people as she could to understand the nuance of this strange lingo. Second up was her confidence and third her communication skills. She worked hard on that too as that would help her become a part of this new world.  She studied hard, made a few friends and got herself a job.

That’s when she set out to follow her real dream. Dream to fall in love and find her happily ever after.

PRINCE CHARMING No.1 (2003-2005)
Alf was a 35 year old traveler. More like a nomad. When Anna met him for the first time, she was too impressed with his way of life. His demeanor. His well build body. His long hair. He was like a Greek God , she thought. Because he had nothing to do, he was with her all the time. Initially Anna liked the attention she was getting. “Why would he like a girl like me, he is so handsome and confident and strong?” “He could take down an army of bad guys on his own”. “He will protect me”. Or so she thought. Years went by and one day the reality struck her “How can one survive only on love?” “How can Alf have no aspiration?” “Why would he want to be with her yet not want to be with her forever?” She knew then that Alf was only one part of her dream and not the whole dream. There was no forever with Alf. Even though Alf was old he was not really experienced. He had done nothing in life to know how to handle the odds.

PRINCE CHARMING No. 2 (2008- 2010)
Max was a dark and dusky prince from Kingdom of west. His father wanted him to be a warrior but he wanted to be a writer. He wrote small stories, made games and was a cartoon artist. He was good at what he did but was too shy. That’s what drew Anna’s attention to him. (And her friend Kevin who she knows now she shouldn’t ever listen to) Anna told him about her dream and he told her about his. He knew how to make her forget her troubles. He introduced her to games and graphic novels. Those things helped her take her mind of bigger troubles. She enjoyed his company and he enjoyed hers. His family treated Anna like she was one of them. She was treated with good food, mothers love and all that she missed about her family. They were nice to her and she was nice to them. One day Anna’s Father and Mother decided to meet this family who their daughter keeps talking about. They went over at Max’s but he was nowhere to be found. She tried to reach him everywhere but he had disappeared in thin air. Max was too afraid. That’s it. Anna cried for months waiting for him to return, never once doubting his love for her. In return all she got was a whole lot of nothing and a letter. “Dear Anna, I am sorry to have left in a hurry. But there was no other way. I am not what you want me to be. I cannot be with you anymore.”
Anna moved to a new job in the city, a great place with good people, young and ambitious scholars from around the world. She loved this new place. For one the people here knew how to have fun and they enjoyed their work. Anna felt like a princess working there. She was loved and respected and found a whole lot of new friends. She found a way to enjoy her life too. Every weekend she would go out with her friends to the best night halts in town. And her friends would introduce her to new friends and so on. She would end up meeting at least ten new faces every week. She wanted to. She had to forget about her past and move on. And she did that.

PRINCE CHARMING No. 3 (2011- 2012)
One night while she was with her friends, she met Thor. Her first impression of him was that he was a little over the top achiever variety. Flamboyant, confident and crazy. Nothing like she was. Thor fell for Anna the moment he saw her. Or so he says. Anna tried to avoid meeting him again but he kept chasing after her till she finally agreed to meet him. They met over dinner where Thor asked her out. Anna refused at first but then agreed to going on one date. He looked handsome and she looked beautiful herself. Their date was marvelous. They spoke about work and love and the world. Thor wanted to do something to change the world. He had ambition, something that Max and Alf didn’t. At one time Anna thought Thor was the one. He was confident and crazy to get what he wanted. But that was the first and the last date Thor and Anna ever went to. Thor lost all his money on a gamble he was sure he would win. His life came crashing down right after that. He lost his will to live, he forgot all about his love for Anna. Anna for him became a liability. Something he could no longer afford having around. He fought with her about everything. Pushed her to a limit where she would fall out of love with him. Anna fought for him till she could. She didn’t let go of him so easy. But one fine day it happened, she couldn’t fight anymore, she was tired, she was exhausted. She realized she was fighting with him, for him. That she could never win. So one day she gave up and left. Went back to the world that was her own. It was difficult at first because everything around reminded her of Thor but it had to be done. She had to get past it, by herself, on her own. And she did.
....

I don’t know how the story ends yet because it’s not over. Anna is still standing strong and confident. She still blushes and sighs when she dreams about her future. She still believes that one day, sooner than she knows she will fall in love and find her happily ever after...

Cheers y’ll
Have fun reading and don’t forget to fall in love…Muah

My Fairytale- Friendly Creatures

This is a story about friendships, loyalties and curiosities. It’s about some of us living amongst all of us. This is a story when I met you and you met me.

There was a point in time when only two kinds of creatures walked the world outside Anna’s kingdom. The Ogres and the Elves.
The Ogres were strong minded, rational creatures. They believed that truth consists in the mind’s correspondence to reality. They believed in living for today. They spent most of the day sleeping or procrastinating about the world around them. Their concealed existence was an extension of their aloof and lazy lifestyle. But at nights Ogres ruled the land.
The Elves on the other hand were shy but imaginative creatures. They spent their days working hard so that by the end of the day they had enough to feed their families. They spent their days working hard so that by the end of the day they had enough to feed their families. Something they cared about deeply. They lived for a better tomorrow.
When Anna stepped in the outside world all she knew was the life her father and mother taught her to live. She knew that was a safe way to live but somewhere deep within, she was curious about the unknown. Her curiosity and intrigue made her quite popular amongst the creatures that got to know her.

Creature No. 1- Ogre
Anna met Pam when she started working. It was Pam’s first job too. Pam was a strict and demanding Ogre. She couldn’t accept below average work from anyone. Anna didn’t work directly with Pam. Maybe that’s why they became friends. Pam had a very clear perspective on most of the things in life especially personal. She wasn’t the one to conform to family and herd pressures. She had a partner who she was comfortable living with and intended to be with him for the rest of her life. Pam taught Anna a few awesome things, which Anna seriously listened to:
  1. Never be afraid to try before giving up.
  2. To be good at what you do, you gotto have fire in your belly.
  3. Confidence is a bitch that needs to be constantly fed.
Anna and Pam don’t work together anymore but they haven’t lost touch.

Creature No. 2- Elf
Anna met Eems when she was studying in college. Eems was a charming, friendly and an energetic Ogre. She had a dream, she wanted to one day be a Queen of a welcoming land. She wanted to be a good wife to the King and a good mother to her prince and princess. She decided not to go against the wishes of her family when her father started seeking a suitable groom for her and an heir to their Kingdom. She conformed to her herd and what her family believed in as she believed in it too, “The world outside our own can be dangerous and disappointing”.  Eems reminded Anna of an elder sister she never had because whenever Anna met Eems she would say things like:
  1. Find a nice guy and get married.
  2. Keep in touch I would love to have non-kid and non-maid conversations.
  3. Be yourself. I love you the way you are. (No she never said that…)
Eems has been happily married and has two sweet lil baby elves that look exactly like her.

Creature No. 3- Ogre
Kev was a dictionary definition of an Ogre, hideous creatures often depicted as having a large head, abundant hair and beard, a voracious appetite, and big body. Kev was a few years younger to Anna and loved to be needy and dependent on her. While Anna was out on work, he would use her home like it was his own. Read her journals as reading material while he sat on the pot. Apart from that though, Kev was a good friend to Anna. He would listen to her girly nonsense for hours without complaining. Give her advice as a wise man would. Anna liked Kev and the other five Ogers who stayed with him. Together they made a fun team. They laughed loudly and fought fiercely if they had too but by end of the day Anna knew they would be around in time of need. Kev had a few wise words to share with Anna too, although they were more egocentric then she would have expected:
  1. Always say good things about me when there are chicks around.
  2. Always pick up my calls.
  3. Don’t date fools.
Kev still lives with his Ogre brigade. Anna meets them once in a while when she is not too exhausted to travel to their forest.

Creature No. 4- Elf
Tet was an extreamly sensitive and nice Elf. Anna met Tet when she joined a new company. Tet was a popular amongst his herd as well as Ogres which was quite an achievement. He was liked by both his male and female friends. He liked Anna for her forthrightness and guided her where he thought she needed help. Tet had a lot of good qualities other than one. He could not say ‘No’ especially to his female friends. He liked the attention he got and hated being alone. Hence he was quite a social butterfly. Organising parties at his home or buying booze for all who exist around him was his favourite hobby. He was good at his work too somewhat of a workaholic. It was difficult to get Tet’s attention if he was pre-occupied with work. Anna learned a lot from Tet especially when it came to his understanding of the political dynamics at work place. He gave her ideas on how to deal with some of her co-workers that would help her at her work. Anna looked up to Tet in some ways other than his self-obsession and that weakness mentioned above. He would always tell her:
  1. In matters you cannot handle. Chill out and have fun.
  2. Don’t think about wrong or right. Do what you have to do.
  3. The more use run after somethings. The mores it runs aways from use. (Lol. That’s plural for Stop running.)
Tet and Anna are good friends and they still chat about old times and laugh their guts out.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are so many more creatures in our world and outside and it would be so exciting to get to know them.
At least as many as we can in our lifetime…
